poem love: Ogden Nash

fossils | ogden nash

at midnight in the museum hall,
the fossils gathered for a ball,
there were no drums or saxophones,
but just the clatter of their bones,
rolling, rattling carefree circus,
of mammoth polkas and mazurkas,
pterodactyls and brontosauruses
sang ghostly prehistoric choruses,
amid the mastodonic wassail
i caught the eye of one small fossil,
“cheer up sad world,” he said and winked,
“it’s kind of fun to be extinct

a bit of earth

its kinda a secret that I was born in San Francisco
~I'm not ashamed by any means~
but it kinda knocks my southern status just a bit*
your not even really considered a local unless your born in the city I live in now
South Carolinians take their native status very seriously

the last time I visited California
I was a little girl
and my parents took me to the City Lights Bookstore
I picked out The Secret Garden
which I promptly devoured on the plane ride home

Check out this bite sized
